The Cable News Network (CNN) described Dr. Adadevoh as “the Nigerian doctor [who] died this year after overseeing the treatment of Ebola patient Patrick Sawyer.”Dr. Stella Ameyo Adadevoh died of Ebola on August 19, 2014 after keeping infected Liberian-American , Patrick Sawyer from leaving the First Consultant Medical Center, where she worked

It also added that the doctor’s “efforts prevented the wider spread of Ebola in Nigeria.”

Chimamanda was recognized as the new African voice following the release of her national best seller ''Americannah''

Others who were honoured include Oscar award-winning actress, Lupita Nyong’o, Kerry Washington and Liberian President, Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf among others.
