Nigeria Premiere of 'Half of a Yellow Sun'

'Half of a Yellow Sun' to show in Nigeria


After months of delay because Nigerian censor board warned it could undermine national security and demanded cuts and edit film distributors say "Half of a Yellow Sun" will premier in Nigeria August 1 all over Nigeria

It was unclear what changes were made to satisfy the censors. The movie is partly set during Nigeria's 1960s civil war, which remains a sensitive subject. And it comes as the country confronts an Islamic uprising that again threatens to tear it apart as tensions increase between Muslims and Christians in Africa's most populous nation.

The movie has been cleared for viewing by people over 18 years old. You can watch the movie anywhere in the cinemas across Nigeria.

Shareman Media and FilmOne Distribution, are happy to announce that the highly anticipated movie, Half of a Yellow Sun has been certified for theatrical release in Nigeria.

The movie, starring BAFTA award-winning and Oscar-nominated actor Chiwetel Ejiofor, BAFTA award-winning actress Thandie Newton, Anika Noni Rose, AMAA winners Genevieve Nnaji andOnyeka Onwenu, Zack Orji, and O.C. Ukeje has been opened to audiences in Australia, New Zealand, the UK and USA.

Following the certification by the National Film and Video Censors Board, the movie will be available in cinemas across Nigeria from the 1st of August 2014.

With world-wide rave reviews and critical acclaim, this silky love tale has thrilled movie audiences everywhere. Half of a Yellow Sun is now set to strike a special chord with every Nigerian.
Producers Shareman media and FilmOne Distribution thanked Nigerians for their patience in a statement Tuesday. The movie starring Chiwetel Ejiofor and Thandie Newton was to premier in April.
