The bloody Nigerian conflict

The Nigerian Islamist war within has created a humanitarian tragedy which seems to have no limits. Last month, the Village of Baga located on the shores of Lake Chad turned bloody with casualties. More than 190 deaths have been accounted for in the Baga massacre. The bloody Nigerian conflict continues from moon-rise to sunrise.

Boko Haram whose official Arabic name means "People Committed to the Propagation of the Prophet's Teachings and Jihad" – says it is fighting to overthrow Nigeria's government and establish an Islamic state. The sect was founded by cleric Mohammed Yusuf. Yusuf was killed in 2009 during gun battles but the chaos continues in Nigeria with branches of Ansaru and other groups emerging.

Nigeria's northern border is filled with danger, tension and nervousness.

More than 3000 deaths since the sect was formed in 2000's. And more than four million people have been displaced from their homes.
