Rafael Nadal v Roger Federer, a Marvelous Rivalry

Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal met Thursday evening in a quarterfinal at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, Calif., their 29th career match. This added to their previous 28 meetings of their nine-year-old rivalry. It is one of the best in tennis history. Nadal Beats Federer 6-4, 6-2 at Indian Wells.

This was their first meeting since the ATP World Tour. Nadal No. 5 in the rankings. Federer is No. 2. Federer, 31 was playing as the defending champion at Indian Wells.
Nadal, 26 needed barely 90 minutes to close out the defending champion in their 29th career meeting and the first in a quarterfinal.

Nadal and Federer first met in Miami in 2004, when Nadal was just 17 years old and Federer was the top-ranked player in the world. In a way, it was a preview of
A Marvelous Rivalry to come. Nadal owns the career head-to-head, 19-10, to date since that Miami match.
