The world's first mother to daughter womb transplant

The world's first mother to daughter womb transplant

The operation was completed by more than 10 surgeons with no complications.
The first woman lost her womb to cervical cancer the other was born without a functioning womb. They are 37 and 32 years of age.

The surgeons chose to use the women's mothers as donors because it reduces the risk of rejecting the donated womb.

These are not the world's first womb transplant but the first mother to daughter womb transplant.
in 2000 Saudi surgeons transplanted a uterus from a living donor but the procedure failed after three months.
Last year, Turkish doctors transplanted a womb from a deceased donor but it is not yet known whether the recipient has conceived.

Lets keep our fingers crossed
first successful Womb transplant
